Summary:
The Dodgers enter the game 12th in the league in runs per game (4.79) and 2nd in team earned run average (3.38). The Dodgers will have Rich Hill (12-8, 3.32) on the mound. Hill has had success against Houston holding their hitters to a combined .176 average against in 51 at-bats. Hill is (1-2, 3.72) lifetime in the postseason. The Astros rank 1st in runs per game (5.43) and 11th in team earned run average (4.12). Houston will start their ace Justin Verlander (15-8, 3.36). Dodgers hitters are batting a combined .227 against Verlander in 75 at-bats. Verlander is (11-5, 3.07) in the postseason.
Bottom Line:
Houston has a big advantage in this pitching match-up with Justin Verlander on the hill. Verlander gave up three runs in six innings against the Dodgers in Game Two. Rich Hill only threw four innings in game two allowing one run. If this becomes a bullpen game the momentum completely shifts to the Dodgers because Houston has really struggled in that regard. I expect Verlander to bounce back with a dominant performance and Houston will close out the series.
