On Tuesday, November 28^th, the (10-8) Washington Wizards will be on the road to take on the (11-8) Minnesota Timberwolves.

Summary:

The Wizards (10-8) are off to a decent start but haven’t asserted themselves in the Eastern Conference as many expected.  John Wall (20.3 PPG and 9.2 APG) is having another terrific season while his backcourt mate Bradley Beal (24.1 PPG) will almost surely be an All-Star.  Washington has one of the best starting fives in the NBA but their bench continues to plague them.  Still, the Wizards are one of the league’s highest scoring teams (108.4 PPG).  Washington ranks 12^th in points allowed (104.3 PPG).

Minnesota (11-8) is probably the league’s most improved team after their offseason additions of Jimmy Butler and Jeff Teague.  Butler hasn’t had the same impact that he had in Chicago but has still been a very effective player (17.0 PPG, 5.5 RPG, and 4.2 APG).  Karl-Anthony Towns (20.3 PPG and 11.5 RPG) is clearly the team’s best player and should definitely make the All-Star team.  Like the Wizards, Minnesota has a dynamic starting five but they rank among the worst teams in bench scoring.  Minnesota has struggled defensively ranking last in opponent field goal percentage (48.5%) and 25^th in points allowed (108.3 PPG).  The Timberwolves rank 11^th in points per game (107.5).

Bottom Line:

The Timberwolves are one of the league’s most athletic teams but they have struggled to grasp Tom Thibodeau’s defensive system.  The Timberwolves low turnover total should keep John Wall from torching them in the open court but Washington is a top ten team in offensive efficiency. The Wizards should be able to get whatever they want offensively and take advantage of a poor Timberwolves defense.  Washington is the better team in nearly every statistical category and should win this one on the road.
