2017-18 Statistics (32 total teams):

Yards per game: Saints 408.6 (2nd) > Falcons 365.2 (8th)

Points per game: Saints 29.4 (3rd) > Falcons 22.8 (14th)

Fewest Points allowed per game:  Saints 20.2 (12th) > Falcons 20.3 (13th)

Summary:

The Saints just keep on rolling having won nine of their last ten games.  New Orleans is coming off a 31-21 home victory over a tough Carolina Panthers team.  The Saints outgained the Panthers 400-279 in total yardage.  Drew Brees was 25-34 for 269 yards and a touchdown.  The dynamic backfield of Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara did the job once again as the Saints totaled 148 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries (5.3 average).  Michael Thomas had five catches for 70 yards and a touchdown.  New Orleans (+110) ranks 5th in the NFL in point differential.

Atlanta is playing fairly well winning three of their last four games scoring at least 27 points in each victory.  The Falcons hosted the Minnesota Vikings and suffered a 14-9 defeat.  The Vikings outgained the Falcons 312-275 in total yardage and dominated the time of possession.  Matt Ryan was just 16-29 for 173 yards through the air.  Atlanta’s running game totaled 102 yards on 22 carries (4.6 average).  Atlanta’s defense played well but simply couldn’t get stops when they had to and keep Minnesota’s offense off the field.  The Falcons (+30) rank 12th in the NFL in point differential.

Bottom Line:

These two teams have split their last four head to head games though Atlanta has won the previous two.  New Orleans is set to get top corner Marshon Lattimore back which will be a huge boost to a defense that has exceeded expectations.  The Saints have scored at least 30 points in each of their last four wins.  Atlanta is allowing 113.2 rushing yards per game which ranks 18th in the league.  Turnovers have been a problem for the Falcons all season and I believe that will be the difference in this one.  I’m picking the Saints to win on the road.
