Overview:

On Thursday, October 26th, the (4-2) Miami Dolphins will be on the road to take on the (3-4) Baltimore Ravens.

The Crowd:

“The Crowd” is projecting a final score of Dolphins 23.4 – Ravens 21.5 with an over/under of 44.8.

2017-18 Statistics (32 total teams):

Yards per game: Ravens 277.6 (31st) > Dolphins 261.8 (32nd)

Points per game: Ravens 18.6 (23rd) > Dolphins 15.3 (31st)

Turnover margin: Ravens +3 > Dolphins -2

Fewest yards allowed per game: Dolphins 308.2 (10th) > Ravens 334.6 (18th)

Fewest Points allowed per game: Dolphins 18.7 (6th) > Ravens 21.1 (13th)

Summary:

The Ravens have fallen on hard times losing four of their last five games.  Baltimore was defeated 24-16 in Minnesota last Sunday.  The Vikings outgained the Ravens 357-208 in total yardage.  Joe Flacco was 27-39 for 186 yards and a touchdown.  Flacco only averaged 4.8 yards per throw in the loss.  The Ravens were ineffective running the ball for 64 yards on 20 carries (3.2 average).  The Ravens do have one of the better turnover margins in the league (+3).  Baltimore (-18) ranks 24th in the NFL. In point differential.

The Dolphins are riding high having won three straight games.  Miami is coming off a 31-28 home victory over the Jets last week.  The Dolphins outgained the Jets 357-272 in total yardage.  Miami starting quarterback Jay Cutler left the game with broken ribs.  Matt Moore stepped in for Cutler and was 13-21 for 188 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.  The Dolphins only managed 53 yards on 25 carries (2.1 average).  Jarvis Landry had a nice game with 7 catches for 93 yards and a touchdown.  The Dolphins (-20) rank 25th in the NFL in point differential.

Bottom Line:

Cutler will miss Thursday night’s game but Matt Moore may actually be an upgrade.  The Dolphins have won six of their last eight road games.  Miami has ranked as a top ten defense all season and will bottle up a Ravens offense that has struggled to score.  I expect the Dolphins to control the clock and give Jay Ajayi a heavy workload.  This will be an ugly low scoring game and I like Miami by a field goal.
