Overview:

On Monday, October 23rd, the (3-2) Washington Redskins will be on the road to take on the (5-1) Philadelphia Eagles.

The Crowd:

“The Crowd” is projecting a final score of Eagles 27.5 – Redskins 22.8 with an over/under of 50.3.

2017-18 Statistics (32 total teams):

Yards per game: Eagles 383.2 (3rd) > Redskins 374.2 (6th)

Points per game: Eagles 27.5 (6th) > Redskins 23.4 (14th)

Turnover margin: Eagles +4 > Redskins -1

Fewest yards allowed per game: Redskins 316.0 (12th) > Eagles 339.2 (20th)

Fewest Points allowed per game: Eagles 20.3 (9th) > Redskins 22.6 (19th)

Summary:

The Eagles are red hot having won four straight games.  During their winning the Eagles have scored at least 26 points in every game.  Philadelphia went on the road and defeated the Carolina Panthers 28-23 on Thursday Night Football.  The Eagles outgained the Panthers 310-305 in total yardage.  Carson Wentz was excellent again going 16-30 for 222 yards and three touchdowns.  The Eagles totaled 101 rushing yards on 27 carries (3.7 average).  Philadelphia’s defense was huge forcing Cam Newton into three interceptions.  The Eagles (+43) rank 3rd in the NFL. In point differential.

The Redskins were able to pull out a 26-24 home victory over the San Francisco 49ers.  The Redskins outgained the 49ers 419-335 in total yardage and won the possession battle by 13 minutes.  Kirk Cousins was 25-37 for 330 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.  Washington’s running game was ineffective garnering 94 yards and a touchdown on 33 carries (2.8 average).  Chris Thompson did have a big game catching the ball with 4 receptions for 105 yards.  The Redskins (+4) rank 17th in the NFL in point differential.

Bottom Line:

The Eagles should be the more rested team having had ten days off following their Thursday night victory.  Carson Wentz is in the MVP conversation with a tremendous 13-3 touchdown to interception ratio.  Philadelphia won the first match-up 30-17 in Washington and a relentless pass rush made life miserable for Kirk Cousins.  With Josh Norman’s health in question, look for the Eagles to attack a weakened Redskins secondary.  I like the Eagles to cover the spread and win at home.
