Summary:
The Chiefs are coming off a strong 24-10 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers actually outgained the Chiefs 330-311 in total yardage. Alex Smith was 16-21 for 155 yards and two touchdowns. Smith has still yet to throw an interception on the season. Kareem Hunt ran wild again for 172 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. Hunt leads the NFL with 401 rushing yards for the season. The Chiefs defense put together a dominant performance holding the Chargers to ten points and forcing three turnovers. Kansas City (+36) ranks 2nd in the NFL in point differential.
Washington crushed the Oakland Raiders 27-10 on Sunday night. The Redskins outgained the Raiders 472-128 in total yardage and possessed the ball for nearly twice as long. He normally explosive Raiders offense had trouble running or passing and turned the ball over three times. Kirk Cousins was a very efficient 25-30 for 365 yards and three touchdowns. The Redskins were ineffective running the football 34 times for 116 yards (3.4 average). Washington (+9) ranks 11th in the NFL in point differential.
Bottom Line:
Washington is the second best defensive unit at stuffing the run (62.3 YPG) so Kansas City can’t be overly reliant on Kareem Hunt to produce all their offense. These teams are pretty evenly matched but one deciding factor could be that Kansas City has turned the ball over only once all season. I expect an ugly low scoring game and the Chiefs will prevail at home.
