Summary:

This should be a hotly contested battle with two of the top 20 defensive teams going head to head.  Virginia leads the nation in fewest points allowed per game (53.2).  Villanova is the better offensive team scoring nearly nine points per game more than Virginia but these teams are basically even in total point differential.  Both teams are (8-2) in their last ten games.  Villanova have four wins over ranked opponents this season whereas Virginia have two.  With two of the better defensive teams playing, I would take the under on the 149.1 that “The Crowd” is currently projecting.  Villanova has perhaps the best player in the nation in Josh Hart who is averaging 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists while shooting 53% from the field.  Villanova is undefeated at home this season and I expect that to continue against Virginia.
