Summary:
The Tigers enter the game 6th in the league in runs per game (4.89) while the Rangers (4.62) rank 14th. Texas has won seven straight games whereas Detroit is just (4-6) in their last ten. Detroit hitters have fared well against Texas starter Nick Martinez hitting a combined .393 albeit in only 28 at-bats. The Rangers, meanwhile, do not have a single hitter hitting above .281. Detroit slugger Miguel Cabrera is off to a slow start this season batting .238 with 4 homers and 14 RBI. The Tigers received a big boost to their lineup when right fielder J.D. Martinez was re-instated from the disabled list. The Tigers rank near the bottom of the league in pitching and recently replaced closer Fransisco Rodriguez with lefty Justin Wilson. Detroit is (9-8) at home this season while Texas is just (6-12) on the road. I think Detroit should be able to score early and often against Martinez and thus eliminate their bullpen woes.
