Overview:

On Sunday, October 1st, the (2-1) Pittsburgh Steelers will be on the road to take on the (2-1) Baltimore Ravens.

The Crowd:

“The Crowd” is projecting a final score of Steelers 25.1 – Ravens 21.2 with an over/under of 46.3.

2017-18 Statistics (32 total teams):

Yards per game: Steelers 302.3 (22nd) > Ravens 263.7 (32nd)

Points per game: Steelers 21.3 (16th) > Ravens 17.0 (23rd)

Turnover margin: Ravens +4 > Steelers +1

Fewest yards allowed per game: Steelers 259.3 (2nd) > Ravens 339.0 (18th)

Fewest Points allowed per game: Steelers 16.7 (3rd) > Ravens 18.0 (5th)

Summary:

The Steelers vastly underperformed in their 23-17 road loss to the Chicago Bears.  The Bears outgained the Steelers 304-282 in total yardage.  Pittsburgh’s defense was had no answer for the running game allowing 220 yards and two touchdowns.  Ben Roethlisberger was 22-39 for 235 yards and a touchdown.  The Bears were able to dominate the time of possession and keep the explosive Steelers offense off the field.  The Steelers (+14) rank 9th in the NFL in point differential.

The Ravens traveled to London to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars and were utterly embarrassed 44-7.  Baltimore was outgained by Jacksonville 410-186 in total yardage.  Joe Flacco was horrendous going 8-18 for 28 yards and two interceptions.  The Ravens relied heavily on their running game which actually managed 134 yards on 25 carries.  After dominating the first two weeks, The Ravens defense was shredded by both the running game and the passing game.  Baltimore (-3) ranks 19th in the NFL in point differential.

Bottom Line:

Baltimore’s offense was dismal in the loss to Jacksonville and their inadequacies in the passing game were glaring.  I expect Pittsburgh’s defense to sell out to stop the run after getting beaten on the ground last week.  Baltimore simply doesn’t have the offensive playmakers that the Steelers do.  If the Steelers take care of the football, they should win this one on the road.
