Strength of schedule:

Auburn is (3-1) with wins over Georgia Southern, Mercer, and Missouri.  Their lone defeat came against Clemson.  Mississippi State is (3-1) with wins over Charleston Southern, LA Tech, and LSU.  They were defeated last week by Georgia.

Summary:

Auburn is flying high after a dominating 51-14 road victory against Missouri.  Auburn outgained Missouri 482-340 in total yardage.  Jarrett Stidham was 13-17 for 218 yards and a touchdown.  Missouri had no answer for Auburn’s rushing attack which totaled 263 yards and five touchdowns on 53 carries.  Auburn’s defense played very well forcing Missouri into five turnovers.  Auburn is expected to get bulldozing running back Kamryn Pettway back after he suffered an ankle injury.  Auburn ranks 68th in total yardage (411.0) and 66th in points per game (30.5).  The Tigers rank 7th in scoring defense (11.3).

Mississippi State suffered their first loss of the season last week when Georgia beat them soundly 31-13.  Georgia outgained Mississippi State 404-280 in total yardage.  Nick Fitzgerald had a rough game going 14-29 for just 83 yards and two interceptions.  Mississippi State was able to run the football effectively garnering 177 total yards on 37 carries.  Mississippi State’s defense had no answers for Georgia’s balanced offensive attack.  Mississippi State ranks 54th in total yards per game (440.0) and 39th in points per game (36.5).  The Bulldogs rank 16th in scoring defense (14.8 PPG).

Bottom Line:

The tandem of Kamyrn Pettway and Kerryon Johnson give Auburn one of the best backfields in all of college football.  Mississippi State really struggled in the passing game last week and a strong Auburn defense should be able to stuff the run and once again make them one dimensional.  I like Auburn to win this one easily at home.
