Summary:

Edmonton is coming off their bye so they have had two weeks to prepare for their match-up with the Montreal Alouettes.  For the season, Edmonton is averaging 25.6 points per game (3^rd) and allowing 25.0 (6^th).  The Eskimos have been the most prolific passing team in the CFL this season.  Montreal is averaging 13.8 points per game (9^th) and they are allowing 21.5 (3^rd).  The Alouettes were defeated by the Calgary Stampeders 25-8 in Week 6.  Calgary outgained Montreal 361-239 in total yardage and won the time of possession battle by ten minutes.  Four Montreal turnovers proved to be extremely costly in the loss.  Matt Shiltz completed 16-25 passes for 161 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.  Tyrell Sutton totaled 96 yards on 16 touches.  The Alouettes’ defense was able to stuff the run but Bo Levi Mitchell torched them through the air.  Montreal stole headlines this week by trading for former Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Johnny Manziel.  It’s doubtful Manziel will be entrenched as the starting quarterback this week.

 Bottom Line:

Edmonton is the better team across the board and should be well rested coming off their bye week.  Montreal is winless at home this season and I expect that trend to continue as the Eskimos win big on the road.
