Summary:
The Cowboys are riding a three-game winning streak after beating the Kansas City Chiefs 28-17 at home. The Cowboys outgained the Chiefs 375-323 in total yardage. Dak Prescott was 21-33 for 249 yards and two touchdowns. Ezekiel Elliott had 93 rushing yards and a touchdown on 27 carries (3.4 average). Terrence Williams had a nice game with 9 catches for 141 yards. The Cowboys dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. The Cowboys defense played well holding the high scoring Chiefs well below their season average. The Cowboys (+48) rank 5th in the NFL. In point differential.
The Falcons traveled to Carolina and were defeated 20-17 by the Panthers. The Falcons outgained the Panthers 355-330 in total yardage. Matt Ryan was 24-38 for 313 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. The Falcons rushing attack was largely ineffective totaling 53 yards on 18 carries (2.9 average). Julio Jones had 6 catches for 118 yards. The Falcons defense played well slowing down Carolina’s passing attack but Cam Newton hurt them on the ground. The Panthers (+9) rank 15th in the NFL in point differential.
Bottom Line:
Ezekiel Elliott is suspended and his presence is obviously a game changer because none of the other Cowboys running backs are as dynamic. Atlanta is desperate for a win after losing four of their last five games. The Falcons offense seems to really be missing offensive coordinator Kyle Shannahan who made them the league’s most prolific offense a year ago. I like the Falcons to take advantage of the Elliott suspension and win this one at home
