Summary:

The Red Sox enter the game 15th in the league in runs per game (4.65) and 4th in team earned run average (3.71).  Cleveland ranks 8th in runs per game (4.89) and 3rd in team ERA (3.68).  The Indians are playing really well going (9-1) in their last ten games while Boston is just (3-7).  These teams have yet to match up in 2017 but last season Cleveland was (5-4) against the Red Sox including their postseason sweep.  Boston starter Rick Porcello (4-14, 4.55) currently leads the majors in losses.  The Red Sox only average 3.3 runs per game when Porcello pitches which ranks worst second in all of baseball.  Cleveland hitters are batting a combined .298 against Porcello.  Edwin Encarnacion is batting .325 against the righty with 3 homers in 40 at-bats.  Porcello is (3-8, 5.01) at home this season.

Cleveland will start the inconsistent Trevor Bauer (9-8, 5.25) on the mound.  Bauer receives 4.8 runs of support when he pitches.  The Red Sox hitters are batting a combined .300 against Bauer.  Bauer has really struggled away from Progressive Field (3-5, 6.69).  Boston is (30-20) at home this season whereas Cleveland is (29-22) on the road.  One amazing stat about Rick Porcello is that he has thrown at least six innings in 19 consecutive starts!  Despite the recent struggles of the Red Sox, I think they can knock Bauer out of the game early and win this one at home.
