Summary:

The Cubs enter the game ranked 14th in runs per game (4.60) and 13th in team earned run average (4.11).  The Mets rank 7th in runs per game (4.90) and 26th in team ERA (4.76).  These two teams have yet to match up in 2017 but last year the Mets were (5-2) in their head to head games against the Cubs.  Chicago is starting Mike Montgomery (0-3, 2.43) who is pitching well in the early portion of the season.  Montgomery has primarily been used in the bullpen and is not expected to pitch deep into this game.  Matt Harvey (4-3, 5.02) has really struggled but is capable of dominating any lineup when he’s on.  Harvey has pitched well of late allowing three or fewer runs in four of his last five starts.  The Mets will receive a huge boost when slugger Yoenis Cespedes makes his long-awaited return to the lineup.  The Cubs are (6-4) in their last ten games while the Mets are (5-5).  Surprisingly, the Mets are just (14-19) at home this season whereas the Cubs are (11-16) on the road.  I think the return of Cespedes provides the spark the Mets need to win this one at home.
