Summary:
Calgary is the lone undefeated team (3-0-0) remaining in the CFL. The Stampeders were on bye last week and should be well rested for their rematch with the Ottawa Redblacks. Bo Levi Mitchell has provided consistently solid quarterback play while Don Jackson is among the top rushers in the league. Calgary has been by far the best defensive team in the league this season and have yet to allow an opponent to eclipse 14 points. For the season, Calgary is averaging 31.0 points per game (2nd) and allowing 11.7 (1st).
Ottawa is coming off a 28-18 road victory over the Montreal Alouettes. The Redblacks outgained the Alouettes 481-323 in total yardage and dominated the time of possession. Trevor Harris was terrific completing 28-42 passes for 342 yards and 3 touchdowns. William Powell had a big game on the ground rushing 23 times for 138 yards (6.0 average). Montreal had no answer for Brad Sinopoli who caught 11 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown. Ottawa’s defense held Montreal to only 43 rushing yards. Ottawa is averaging 27.3 points per game (4th) and they are allowing 19.7 (2nd).
Bottom Line:
Calgary defeated Ottawa 24-14 earlier this season but they did have the advantage of playing on their home field. The Stampeders have won six of their last seven road games. Calgary’s defense has been suffocating thus far so I’m rolling with them in a close one on the road.
