On Friday, June 23rd, the (0-0) Calgary Stampeders will be on the road to take on the (0-0) Ottawa Redblacks.
The Crowd:
“The Crowd” projects a final score of Ottawa 28.4 – Calgary 25.9 with an over/under of 53.5.
2016 Statistics (9 total teams):
Point differential: Calgary +217 (1st) > Ottawa -12 (6th)
Points per game: Calgary 32.6 (1st) > Ottawa 27.0 (9th)
Points allowed per game: Calgary 20.5 (1st) > Ottawa 27.7 (6th)
Yards per game: Ottawa 442.1 (1st) > Calgary 419.5 (4th)
Yards allowed per game: Calgary 371.6 (1st) > Ottawa 394.3 (6th)
Summary:
In a rematch of last year’s Grey Cup Championship, Calgary will be looking for revenge after Ottawa pulled off a surprising 39-33 overtime upset. Calgary finished last season with a (15-2-1) record while Ottawa was (8-9-1). Calgary led the league in points per game and fewest points allowed. Calgary quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell is a perennial MVP candidate and he led the league in touchdown passes (32) a season ago. Ottawa’s best hope is to control the clock by amassing huge yardage totals. Ottawa ranked first in yards per game last year by a wide margin. Ottawa was just (2-6-1) at home last year whereas Calgary was (6-2-1) on the road. I think Calgary will have a sour taste in their mouth from losing the championship and win over Ottawa this time around.
