Summary:

The Red Sox enter the game 10th in the league in runs per game (4.76) and 3rd in team earned run average (3.63).  New York ranks 4th in runs per game (5.19) and 6th in team ERA (3.78).  The Red Sox are playing really well going (9-1) in their last ten games while the Yankees are just (4-6).  The Yankees have dominated the season series so far going (6-3) against Boston outscoring them 38-16.  Boston starter Chris Sale (14-4, 2.57) is currently the front runner to win the American League Cy Young Award.  Sale has fared well against the Yankees holding them to a combined .207 average against in 121 at-bats. Sale is (8-3, 2.37) on the road this season and (3-0, 1.87) since the All-Star break.

The Yankees will start Jordan Montgomery (7-6, 4.05) on the mound.  The Red Sox hitters are batting a combined .333 against Montgomery albeit in only 18 total at-bats.  Montgomery is a respectable (4-2, 3.95) at home this season but has been terrible (1-2, 5.55) since the All-Star break.   New York is (32-20) at home this season whereas Boston is (29-29) on the road.  Obviously, the Red Sox have a huge advantage in the pitching match-up and should win this one with Sale on the bump.
