Summary:
Clemson completely dominated Kent State in every facet of the game. Clemson outscored Kent State yardage wise 665-120. Clemson’s 665 yards of total offense were the 5th most in week one of college football. While not spectacular, Kelly Bryant did a nice job in his first game taking over at quarterback for Deshaun Watson. Bryant was 16-22 for 236 yards and a touchdown. Clemson’s ground game was unstoppable they rushed for 353 yards and 6 touchdowns. The 120 total yards allowed by the Clemson defense were the 7th fewest in week one.
Auburn had their way with Georgia Southern in their blowout victory. Auburn outgained Georgia Southern 535-78 in yards. The 78 yards allowed by the Auburn defense were the third fewest in college football in week one. That was the lowest yardage total for an Auburn opponent in 30 years. Jarrett Stidham threw for 185 yards and 2 touchdowns in the victory. Both Kam Martin and Kerryon Johnson ran for over 100 yards and a touchdown.
Bottom Line:
This will be close game with two of college football’s elite defenses making life miserable for the opposition. Clemson has more talent on offense and their balanced attack will win the game late.
