“The Crowd” is projecting a final score of Seahawks 25.1 – Falcons 23.1 with an over/under of 48.2.
2017-18 Statistics (32 total teams):
Yards per game: Seahawks 368.4 (7th) > Falcons 368.0 (8th)
Points per game: Seahawks 23.4 (11th) > Falcons 21.9 (15th)
Turnover margin: Seahawks +6 > Falcons -3
Fewest yards allowed per game: Falcons 311.9 (7th) > Seahawks 318.9 (12th)
Fewest Points allowed per game: Seahawks 18.3 (5th) > Falcons 19.9 (10th)
Summary:
The Falcons finally got back on track with a dominating 27-7 home victory over the Dallas Cowboys. The Falcons outgained the Cowboys 336-233 in total yardage. Matt Ryan was 22-29 for 215 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Atlanta’s rushing attack produced 132 yards and a touchdown on 34 carries (3.9 average). Devona Freeman left the game early with a concussion and he is doubtful for Monday night. Atlanta took advantage of Ezekiel Elliott’s suspension and played their best defensive game of the season holding them to seven points and forcing two turnovers. The Cowboys were without their all pro lineman Tyron Smith and Adrian Clayborn had a huge game with six sacks. The Falcons (+18) rank 14th in the NFL in point differential.
Seattle is really clicking having won five of their last six games. During that streak the Seahawks have held five of their six opponents under 20 points. The Seahawks defeated the Cardinals 22-16 at home on Thursday night. Arizona outgained Seattle 290-287 in total yardage. Russell Wilson was 22-32 for 238 yards and two touchdowns. The Seahawks ground woes continue as they managed only 75 yards on 23 carries (3.3 average). Seattle lost their all-pro cornerback Richard Sherman for the season with an achilles injury. The Seahawks (+46) rank 7th in the NFL in point differential.
Bottom Line:
These two teams split their two head to head games last season. The injury to Devonta Freeman hurts, but the Falcons can get creative with the dynamic Tevin Coleman. Matt Ryan is rounding into form after a rough early season start. Richard Sherman’s injury leaves a huge void and the Seahawks will certainly have more trouble trying to contain Julio Jones. I like the Falcons to pull off the road upset in this one.
