“The Crowd” projects a final score of Falcons 26.8 – Panthers 20.9 with an over/under of 47.7.

2016-17 Statistics (32 total teams):

Yards per game: Falcons 412.9 (2nd) > Panthers 347.3 (17th)

Points per game: Falcons 33.5 (1st) > Panthers 24.1 (14th)

Turnover margin: Falcons +8 > Panthers +1

Fewest Points allowed per game: Panthers 25.1 (25th) > Falcons 25.6 (26th)

Summary:

Carolina is no longer in desperation mode after being eliminated from the playoffs.  The defending NFC Champions have been underperforming all season long but they looked great in their 26-15 victory over the Redskins on Monday night.  Both the Panthers and Falcons are (3-2) in their last five games.  The Falcons defense has finally come alive allowing 19.8 points per game in that stretch.  As for the high-powered Falcons offense, they have scored 28 or more points in seven of their last eight games.  Carolina is (6-4) in their last ten head to head games with Atlanta though the Falcons have won the last two.  The Falcons (+111) have a considerable advantage over the Panthers (-11) in terms of point differential.  With their playoff elimination, the Panthers will likely sit star linebacker Luke Keuchly out for the rest of the season with his concussion problems.  I think this will be a high scoring game with Atlanta pulling it out in the end.
