“The Crowd” projects a final score of Oklahoma 39.0 – Texas 31.1 with an over/under of 70.1.
2016-17 Statistics (127 total teams):
Texas is (2-2) with wins over Notre Dame and UTEP. Their losses came against unranked California and Oklahoma State. Oklahoma is (2-2) with wins over ULM and TCU. They were defeated by two ranked teams in Ohio State and Houston.
Passing offense: Oklahoma 293.8 YPG > Texas 256.3 YPG
Rushing offense: Texas 261.0 YPG > Oklahoma 198.8 YPG
Scoring offense: Texas 41.3 PPG > Oklahoma 39.5 PPG
Scoring defense: Oklahoma 35.3 PPG > Texas 38.3 PPG
Passing defense: Texas 274.8 YPG > Oklahoma 298.5 YPG
Rushing defense: Oklahoma 130.8 YPG > Texas 153.8 YPG
Turnover Margin Per Game: Texas -1.0 = Oklahoma -1.0
Summary:
Both of these teams are (2-2) possessing an explosive offense and a defense that is full of holes. The difference is that Oklahoma’s losses have come against two top ten teams that are competition for a national championship. Texas has lost two straight games while Oklahoma just pulled out an impressive win on the road versus TCU. This should be a high-scoring game as neither team has shown interest in playing defense. Oklahoma does have decent numbers against the run which is definitely the strength of Texas. If this turns into a shoot-out, Oklahoma will have a big advantage because their passing game is one of the best in the country. I like Oklahoma to win again on the road.
