Summary:

Michigan State has yet to face a true test this season having played Furman in their only game thus far.  Quarterback Tyler O’Connell looked okay in his debut taking over for Connor Cook who was 34-5 as a starter.  The Spartans offense is built around a dominant offensive line and bruising running back L.J. Scott.  Michigan State’s defense is loaded with nose tackle Malik McDowell and linebacker Riley Bullough.  McDowell is a preseason All-American and could be a top ten pick.

Notre Dame is led by quarterback DeShone Kizer who is already garnering attention about potentially being the number one pick in next year’s NFL draft.  Kizer has plenty of playmakers on offense to spread to wealth.  The offensive line is not as strong as a year ago but the major hit is on defense.  Texas shredded Notre Dame for 50 points in week one.  If Notre Dame can stop the run they win this game because Michigan State’s passing offense is highly questionable.
