Statistics (9 total teams):

Montreal finished the 2015 season with a (6-12) record while Winnipeg was (5-13).  Montreal was (3-6) on the road last season whereas Winnipeg was (3-6) at home in 2015.  Montreal ranked 8th in points per game (21.6).

They will be up against a Winnipeg defense that ranked 8th in points allowed per game (27.9).  Winnipeg’s offense ranked last in points per game (19.6).  They will square off with a Montreal defense that ranks 4th in points allowed per game (22.3).

Summary:

These were two of the worst teams in the league last season so I expect this game to be lower scoring than some of the others.  Montreal running back Tyrell Sutton led the league in rushing yards last season but they struggled with inconsistent quarterback play.  John Bowman of Montreal (19) and Jamaal Westerman of Winnipeg (17) were the top two sack leaders in the CFL.

Winnipeg quarterback Matt Nichols was one in the top five players in the CFL to throw in passing yards and passing touchdowns.  I’m taking Winnipeg to win this one at home because of more consistent quarterback play.
