Summary:
BC pulled off a stunning 20-17 come from behind win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in week five. The Lions scored 20 unanswered points in the second half to shock the Blue Bombers. Winnipeg outgained BC 401-399 in total yardage but three interceptions proved to be costly in the defeat. Lions’ quarterback Travis Lulay completed 28-41 passes for 326 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Chris Rainey was all over the field compiling 246 all-purpose yards. BC’s defense was able to get constant pressure on Winnipeg quarterback Matt Nichols forcing him into some very poor decisions. If there is an area of concern for BC it’s their run defense which allowed Andrew Harris to gain 139 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. For the season, BC is averaging 20.8 points per game (6th) and allowing 27.3 (8th).
Ottawa was demolished by the Calgary Stampeders 27-3 at home in week five. Calgary jumped to a 20-0 halftime lead as their defense suffocated Ottawa all night. The Stampeders outgained the Redblacks 383-169 in total yardage and won the possession battle by 15 minutes. Trevor Harris had a miserable game completing 14-22 passes for 93 yards and two interceptions. Ottawa gained only 35 rushing yards but 3 intercpetions and 3 fumbles are simply too much to overcome. Ottawa is averaging 21.3 points per game (5th) and they are allowing 21.5 (3rd).
Bottom Line:
It would be almost impossible for Ottawa to play any worse than they did last week so I expect them to bounce back with a much better performance. BC has really struggled on the road with a (-41) point differential thus far. The Lions have struggled defensively and that bodes well for an Ottawa offense that is due for a big game after struggling so mightly.
