Summary:
The Broncos have lost eight of their last nine games but did manage a 23-0 home victory over the New York Jets on Sunday. The Broncos outgained the Jets 273-100 in total yardage. Trevor Siemian was 19-31 for 200 yards and a touchdown. The Broncos had very little success running the ball garnering only 84 yards and a touchdown on 35 carries (2.4 average). Demaryius Thomas had 8 catches for 93 yards and a touchdown. The Broncos defense knocked Josh McCown out of the game and took advantage of an inept Jets offense. The Broncos held the Jets to just 100 total yards and forced two turnovers in the victory. Denver (-86) ranks 29th in the NFL in point differential.
The Colts are also struggling having lost seven of their last eight games. On Sunday the Colts were defeated by the Buffalo Bills 13-7 in overtime amidst a blizzard. The Bills outgained the Colts 319-227 in total yardage. Jacoby Brissett was 11-22 for 69 yards and a touchdown. Frank Gore was a workhorse with 130 yards on 36 carries (3.6 average). The Colts defense turned in one of their better performances of the season allowing only 13 points while forcing two turnovers. Obviously, the weather conditions were tough but the Colts let a winnable game slip away. Indianapolis (-131) ranks 31st in the NFL in point differential.
Bottom Line:
Denver continues to cycle through bad quarterbacks as they have amassed the second worst turnover margin (-14) in the NFL. Siemian is still the best of the group and is capable of winning games if he takes care of the ball. The Broncos still have more than a few playmakers on defense and are still capable of shutting down an opposing offense. It has been four weeks since Colts offense has been able to score 20 points. This should be a low scoring game with two inept offenses facing off. Denver has the better defense so they should be able to win this one if they can mitigate the turnovers.
