Overview:

On Sunday, December 10th, the (7-5) Baltimore Ravens will be on the road to take on the (10-2) Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Crowd:

“The Crowd” is projecting a final score of Steelers 26.7 – Ravens 21.1 with an over/under of 47.8.

2017-18 Statistics (32 total teams):

Yards per game: Steelers 367.6 (7th) > Ravens 288.5 (30th)

Points per game: Steelers 23.4 (12th) > Ravens 23.3 (13th)

Turnover margin: Ravens +14 > Steelers -1

Fewest yards allowed per game: Steelers 294.7 (4th) > Ravens 311.2 (7th)

Fewest Points allowed per game: Ravens 17.2 (3rd) > Steelers 17.8 (5th)

Summary:

The Steelers have now won seven straight games after their hard-fought 23-20 road victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.  It was a brutally physical game where multiple players were injured including Steelers star linebacker Ryan Shazier.  Juju Smith-Schuster is facing a one game suspension for his blindside hit on Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict.  The Steelers outgained the Bengals 374-353 in total yardage.  Ben Roethlisberger was 24-40 for 290 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Le’Veon Bell ran for 76 yards on 18 carries (4.2 average) but also had 5 catches for 106 yards and a touchdown.  Antonio Brown had 8 catches for 101 yards and a touchdown.  The Steelers (+68) rank 8th in the NFL in point differential.

The Ravens are riding a three-game winning streak after defeating the Detriot Lions 44-20 at home.  Detroit actually outgained Baltimore 372-370 in total yardage but three turnovers were too much to overcome.  Joe Flacco was 23-36 for 269 yards and two touchdowns.  Alex Collins ran for 75 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries (5.0 average).  Mike Wallace had a nice game with 5 catches for 116 yards.  Baltimore continues to force takeaways at a crazy rate and have the best turnover margin in the league (+14).  The Ravens (+73) rank 6th in the NFL in point differential.

Bottom Line:

The Ravens have won four of their last six head to head meetings with Pittsburgh but the Steelers beat them by 17 points on the road earlier this season.  Ryan Shazier is the heartbeat of the Steelers defense and his presence will surely be missed against Baltimore.  The Ravens will be without their top cornerback Jimmy Smith who is suspended for performance enhancing drugs.  Four of the last five meetings between these teams have been decided by six or fewer points.  I like the Steelers to prove they are the class of the AFC North and win by a field goal at home.
