Summary:
The Steelers are riding a four-game winning streak after their 20-17 road victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Pittsburgh’s defense has been dominant holding all four opponents under 20 points during their winning streak. The Steelers outgained the Colts 316-267 in total yardage. Ben Roethlisberger was 19-31 for 236 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Le’Veon Bell managed only 80 rushing yards on 26 carries (3.1 average). Antonio Brown was actually outshined by JuJu Smith-Schuster who had 5 catches for 97 yards and a touchdown. Pittsburgh (+39) ranks 8th in the NFL in point differential.
The Titans have also won four straight games after a 24-20 home victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. Tennessee outgained Cincinnati 416-308 in total yardage and doubled the Bengals in time of possession. Marcus Mariota was 25-44 for 264 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Mariota injured his shoulder in the game but is expected to play against Pittsburgh. The Titans ground game totaled 180 yards and two touchdowns on 36 carries (5.0 average). Tennessee’s defense was able to get timely stops and force two Andy Dalton fumbles. The Titans (-8) rank 18th in the NFL in point differential.
Bottom Line:
The Steelers defense has been great this season ranking 2nd in points allowed (16.4), 12th against the run (102.7 YPG), and 2nd against the pass (181.8 YPG). Tennessee was able to have their way running the football against the Bengals but with Mariota nursing a bruised shoulder he may be less involved. Pittsburgh’s offense surprisingly struggled against the Colts but they have the elite playmakers to bounce back with a big performance this week. I’ll take the Steelers at home to cover the spread.
