Strength of schedule:

Miami is a perfect (8-0) with wins over Bethune-Cookman, Arkansas State, Toledo, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Syracuse, North Carolina, and Georgia Tech.  Notre Dame is (8-1) with wins over Temple, Boston College, Michigan State, Miami (OH), North Carolina, USC, NC State, and Wake Forest.  Their lone defeat came against Georgia.

Summary:

Miami is coming off an impressive 28-10 home victory over ranked Virginia Tech.  Miami outgained Virginia Tech 429-299 in total yardage.  Malik Rosier was 10-21 for 193 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions.  Rosier will have to clean up the turnovers against a Notre Dame team that thrives on takeaways.  Miami’s rushing attack totaled 219 yards and two touchdowns on 35 carries (6.3 average).  The Hurricanes defense was dominant holding Virginia Tech to ten points and forcing four turnovers.   Miami ranks 25th in total offense (462.0 YPG) and 44th in points per game (31.5).  The Hurricanes rank 12th in scoring defense (17.6 PPG).

Notre Dame got into a home shoot-out with Wake Forest but were victorious 48-37.  Notre Dame outgained Wake Forest 710-587 in total yardage.  Brandon Wimbush was 15-30 for 280 yards and a touchdown.  Wimbush also carried the ball 12 times for 110 yards and two touchdowns.  The Fighting Irish garnered 380 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 46 carries (8.3 average).  Chase Claypool had a monster game with 9 catches for 180 yards and a touchdown.  Notre Dame’s defense was shredded and allowed an opponent to exceed 20 points for the first time this season.  Notre Dame ranks 13th in total offense (495.0 YPG) and 7th in points per game (41.3).  The Fighting Irish rank 17th in scoring defense (18.4 PPG).

Bottom Line:

During their seven-game winning streak Notre Dame has scored at least 33 points in each of those contests.  Though Miami is undefeated, they have only beaten one ranked opponent (Virginia Tech).  Notre Dame is battle tested with three wins over ranked teams (NC State, USC, and Michigan State) and their only loss was by one point to the number one team in the country (Georgia).  The dynamic duo of Brandon Wimbush and Josh Adams will wear down the Hurricanes and Notre Dame will pull away late.
