 The Crowd:

“The Crowd” projects a final score of Winnipeg 29.9 – Montreal 23.7 with an over/under of 53.5.

2017 Statistics (9 total teams):

Point differential: Winnipeg +27 (3rd) > Montreal -29 (8th)

Points per game: Winnipeg 34.3 (2nd) > Montreal 21.0 (8th)

Points allowed per game: Montreal 24.6 (3rd) > Winnipeg 30.9 (8th)

Yards per game: Winnipeg 409.6 (3rd) > Montreal 364.3 (8th)

Yards allowed per game: Montreal 395.9 (6th) > Winnipeg 407.4 (7th)

Summary:

Winnipeg is now (6-2-0) after an impressive 33-26 home victory over the previously unbeaten Edmonton Eskimos.  Winnipeg’s offense has now eclipsed the 30-point plateau in six straight games.  Quarterback Matt Nichols was 32-40 for 390 yards and a touchdown.  Running back Andrew Harris had 105 yards on only 11 carries.  Winnipeg’s success running the football led them to winning the possession battle by nearly 13 minutes.  The Blue Bombers rank 2nd in the CFL averaging 34.3 points per game.

Montreal fell to (3-5-0) after getting destroyed 38-6 by the Toronto Argonauts.  The Alouettes defense was shredded for 473 total yards while they managed only 163.  Quarterback Darian Durant continued to struggle completing just 51% of his passes and managing only 93 yards through the air.  The CFL is certainly a passing league and a struggling quarterback can cripple a team.  Montreal needs to get running back Tyrell Sutton more involved but obviously that’s difficult to do when their defense allows 35 points in the first half.  Winnipeg is (3-1-0) on the road this season whereas Montreal is (3-1-0) at home.  With Durant struggling, I don’t think Montreal will be able to keep pace with the high scoring Blue Bombers.
