Summary:
The Cubs enter the game 14th in the league in runs per game (4.68) and 8th in team earned run average (4.02). Milwaukee ranks 9th in runs per game (4.85) and 10th in team ERA (4.10). The Cubs are playing really well going (8-2) in their last ten games while the Brewers (3-7) are floundering. Chicago is (5-4) head to head against Milwaukee this season outscoring them 56-52 in those games. Cubs starter Kyle Hendriks (4-3, 3.95) isn’t quite the dominant pitcher he was last season but has put together a solid campaign. Hendriks has pitched very well against the Brewers in his career holding them to a combined .161 average against.
Milwaukee will start Junior Guerra (1-4, 5.52) on the mound who has really struggled this season. The Cubs are only hitting a combined .176 against Guerra. Guerra was bad in June (0-2, 6.00) has been even worse in July (0-2, 6.88). Milwaukee is (28-24) at home this season whereas Chicago is (25-25) on the road. With Milwaukee stumbling and Guerra not pitching well, I can see the Cubs winning big in this one.
