Overview:

On Wednesday, June 7th, the Golden State Warriors will be on the road to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers in game three of the 2017 NBA Finals.  The Warriors hold a (2-0) series advantage.

The Crowd:  

“The Crowd” is projecting a final score of Cavaliers 109.2 – Warriors 107.3 with an over/under of 216.4.

Summary:

Golden State now holds a (2-0) series advantage after blowing out Cleveland 132-113 in game two.  Cleveland tried to speed up their pace but they were completely drained in the second half when the Warriors pulled away.  The Warriors shot 51.7% from the field and dominated the Cavaliers 53-41 on the glass.  Cleveland forced Golden State into 20 turnovers and they still put up 132 points.  Kevin Durant was terrific with 33 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 blocks.  Stephen Curry had a triple double with 32 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists.  Klay Thompson finally broke out of his shooting slump adding 20 points.  Cleveland actually had 11 more shot attempts than Golden State but only scored at a 45% clip.  The Warriors are playing phenomenal basketball and have only lost once in their last 30 games.

Lebron James posted a triple double of his own with 29 points, 11 rebounds, and 14 assists.  Kyrie Irving managed 19 ugly points on 8-23 shooting and rumor has it he is nursing a knee injury.  Irving, usually one of the NBA’s best in attacking the basket, has only attempted 3 free throws in the first two games.  Kevin Love had 27 points and 7 rebounds but was a liability on defense.  Tristan Thompson and J.R. Smith have contributed little to nothing the first two games.  Cleveland may have found out they are not going to win a shoot-out against perhaps the NBA’s most potent offensive team ever assembled.  I expect the Cavaliers to bring the tempo to a screeching halt and try to keep the Warriors under 100 points as they did successfully a number of times in last year’s NBA Finals.  Without a healthy Irving, the Cavaliers are overly reliant on Lebron James to do the majority of ball handling, scoring, and facilitating.  I think game three will be much closer but the balanced attack of the Warriors will be too much for Cleveland to overcome.
