Summary:

The Red Sox have struggled with runners in scoring position despite leading the league in batting average (.278) and ranking second in on base percentage (.343). Boston got the better of this match-up a year ago (10-8) in their head to head games with the Yankees outscoring them 80-77. Twelve of those games were decided by two runs or fewer. Yankees starter C.C. Sabathia has held Red Sox hitters to a combined .238 average in a huge sample size. Sabathia is (2-1) with a 2.70 ERA on the season and has thrown five innings in each of his first four starts. Red Sox starter Drew Pomeranz has held Yankees hitters to a combined .241 average against. Pomeranz is (1-1) with a 4.60 ERA on the season. Boston is (7-2) at home this season whereas New York is just (3-6) on the road. I expect this to be another close game but I like Boston to win at Fenway where they have played really well.
