“The Crowd” projects a final score of Redskins 26.6 – Panthers 22.5 with an over/under of 49.1.  The Vegas Line has a final score of Redskins 27.8 – Panthers 23.3 with an over/under of 51.0.

2016-17 Statistics (32 total teams):

Yards per game: Redskins 412.1 (2nd) > Panthers 340.3 (19th)

Points per game: Redskins 25.4 (8th) > Panthers 23.9 (13th)

Turnover margin: Redskins +1 > Panthers -2

Fewest yards allowed per game: Panthers 362.5 (23rd) > Redskins 370.6 (26th)

Fewest Points allowed per game: Redskins 24.4 (22nd) > Panthers 25.9 (26th)

Summary:

Washington is (3-2) in their last five games whereas Carolina is (2-3).  The Panthers have been awful on defense lately without their star linebacker Luke Keuchly who is out with injury.  In their last three games the Panthers have allowed over 34 points per game.  The Redskins defense hasn’t been much better allowing nearly 30 points per game in that same span.  I expect this to be a high scoring game with both defenses struggling to stop anyone.  Washington is (4-2) at home this season while Carolina is just (1-5) on the road.  Washington (+13) ranks 16th in point differential and Carolina (-26) ranks 25th.  Carolina has showed flashes of the team that made a deep Super Bowl run last year but injuries and inconsistency have marred them all season.  I like Washington to win a shootout at home.
