The Crowd:

“The Crowd” projects a final score of Giants 24.3 – Lions 21.2 with an over/under of 45.5.  The Vegas Line has a final score of Giants 23.8 – Lions 19.3 with an over/under of 43.0.

2016-17 Statistics (32 total teams):

Yards per game: Lions 336.2 (21st) > Giants 322.2 (27th)

Points per game: Lions 22.7 (17th) > Giants 19.6 (25th)

Turnover margin: Lions +4 > Giants -5

Fewest yards allowed per game: Giants 349.3 (14th) > Lions 350.2 (15th)

Fewest Points allowed per game: Giants 18.8 (7th) > Lions 20.6 (10th)

Summary:

Statistically these teams are very comparable but Detroit has a substantial advantage in the turnover margin category.  The Giants have been carried all year by their defense and quarterback Eli Manning admits the offense needs to step up.  The Giants have failed to score 30 or more points in every game thus far.  Even with all the turnovers, the Giants have still won seven of their last eight games.  Detroit is also playing great football winning eight of their last nine games.

Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford suffered a finger injury in their win over Chicago which could affect his accuracy this week.  Stafford was having a phenomenal season ranking top ten in yards, completion percentage, and QB rating.  The Giants are (6-1) at home this season while Detroit is (3-3) on the road.  Both the Lions (+27) and Giants (+11) have similar point differentials.  With the injury to Stafford I like the Giants to win a close one at home.
