Strength of schedule:
Clemson is (11-1) with wins over Auburn, Troy, South Carolina State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Boston College, NC State, Florida State, Syracuse, Wake Forest, and South Carolina. Their lone defeat was a one point loss at home to Pittsburgh. Virginia Tech is (9-3) with wins over Liberty, Boston College, East Carolina, North Carolina, Miami, Pittsburgh, Duke, Notre Dame, and Virginia. They were defeated by Syracuse, Tennessee, and Georgia Tech.
Summary:
Clemson has the advantage statistically and a far more impressive resume. The Tigers offense has been rolling averaging nearly 45 points per game in their last five. Virginia Tech will have their hands full with the multi-dimensional Clemson offense. Clemson ranks as the 17th best scoring offense and 8th best scoring defense. Virginia Tech ranks as the 35th best scoring offense and 20th best scoring defense. Both teams have struggled with turnovers so I think that category is wash. I think this game will be close but I like Clemson to pull it out in the end.
