The Crowd:

“The Crowd” projects a final score of Baylor 33.9 – West Virginia 25.4 with an over/under of 59.3.

2016-17 Statistics (127 total teams):

Passing offense: West Virginia 281.6 YPG > Baylor 275.7 YPG

Rushing offense: Baylor 255.2 YPG > West Virginia 233.0 YPG

Scoring offense: Baylor 36.2 PPG > West Virginia 33.4

Scoring defense: West Virginia 23.6 PPG > Baylor 31.0 PPG

Passing defense: Baylor 234.2 YPG > West Virginia 256.7 YPG

Rushing defense: West Virginia 173.6 > Baylor 201.4 YPG

Turnover Margin Per Game: West Virginia +0.1 > Baylor -0.2

Strength of schedule:

Baylor is (6-5) with wins over Northwestern State, SMU, Rice, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, and Kansas.  They were defeated by Texas, TCU, Oklahoma, Kansas State, and Texas Tech.  West Virginia is (9-2) with wins over Missouri, Youngstown State, BYU, Kansas State, Texas Tech, TCU, Kansas, Texas, and Iowa State.  Their losses came against Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

Summary:

Baylor started the season (6-0) but are in a serious tailspin having lost their last five games.  Baylor lost their starting quarterback Seth Russell for the season with an ankle injury but backup Zach Smith has been okay in his absence.  What’s more alarming for the Bears that in their five game losing streak their defense has allowed 47.6 points per game.  West Virginia is just (3-2) in their last five games albeit two losses to top 25 teams in Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.  Baylor has been able to put up points but their defense has been so atrocious that I think West Virginia will win big at home.
