Rushing defense: NC State 99.4 YPG > Miami 142.0 YPG

Turnover Margin Per Game: Miami +0.6 > NC State +0.1

Strength of schedule:

Miami was (6-4) with wins over Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic, Appalachian State, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, and Virginia.  They were defeated by Florida State, UNC, Virginia Tech, and Notre Dame.  NC State was (5-5) with wins over William & Mary, Old Dominion, Wake Forest, Notre Dame, and Syracuse.  They lost to Clemson, Louisville, Boston College, and Florida State.

Summary:

Both teams are struggling entering this match-up.  NC State started the season (4-1) but have since lost four of their last five.  Miami started the season (4-0) but have lost four of their last six games.  Miami has the advantage in the major statistical categories ranking higher in both scoring offense and scoring defense.  NC State has one of the best run defenses in the country holding opponents under 100 yards per game.  Miami likes to throw the ball and have one of the best quarterbacks in the nation in Brad Kaaya.  Miami has also done a better job at taking care of the football so I like them to pull out a close one on the road.
