2016-17 Statistics (127 total teams):

Rushing defense: Michigan 107.4 YPG > Iowa 176.6 YPG

Turnover Margin Per Game: Michigan +1.0 > Iowa +0.8

Strength of schedule:

Michigan is (9-0) with wins over Hawaii, UCF, Colorado, Penn State, Rutgers, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan State, and Maryland.  Iowa is (5-4) with wins over Miami (OH), Iowa State, Rutgers, Minnesota, and Purdue.  They were defeated by Wisconsin, Penn State, Northwestern, and North Dakota State.

Summary:

Michigan enters the game as one of the lone remaining undefeated teams in the country.  The Wolverines rank third in scoring offense and first in scoring defense.  They have the advantage in all major statistical categories in this match-up.  Michigan’s defense has allowed 14 or fewer points in seven of their nine games.  Iowa comes into the game having lost three of their last five games.  Iowa ranks outside the top 75 offensively but they do have a top 25 defense.  The Hawkeyes have struggled against upper echelon Big Ten opponents this year and will certainly have their hands full with a Michigan team clicking on all cylinders.  I like Michigan in a blowout on the road.
