Overview:
On Thursday, June 23rd, at 7:30 P.M. the Hamilton Tiger Cats will be on the road to take on the Toronto Argonauts in the opening game of the CFL season. “The Crowd” projects a final score of Hamilton 30.1 – Toronto 19.5. with an over/under of 49.6.
Statistics (9 total teams):
Hamilton and Toronto each finished the 2015 season with a (10-8) record. Hamilton was (5-4) on the road last season whereas Toronto was (5-4) at home in 2015. Hamilton’s prolific offense led the league in scoring at (29.4) points per game.
They will be up against a Toronto defense that ranked 7th in points allowed per game (27.7). Toronto’s offense ranked 5th in points per game (24.3). They will square off with a Hamilton defense that ranks 3rd in points allowed per game (21.7).
Summary:
This should be a high scoring game with two teams that really like to air the ball out. Toronto finished last in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns but led the league in passing touchdowns. Toronto’s pass heavy attack could be troublesome against Hamilton who led the league in interceptions last season.
Hamilton quarterback Zack Collaros will not be ready for the start of the 2016 season. Collaros was leading the CFL in nearly every passing category before suffering a gruesome knee injury. Hamilton’s offense should still have enough against a porous Toronto defense to defeat them by double digits.
