Strength of schedule:
The Citadel is (1-4) to start the season with their lone win coming on the road against Mercer. They were defeated by Wofford, Chattanooga, Towson, and East Tennessee State.
VMI is (0-6) with losses against Toledo, Wofford, East Tennessee State, Western Carolina, Mercer, and Samford.
Bottom Line:
The Citadel open as heavy road favorites as they statistically outmatch VMI across the board. VMI has really struggled defensively and they are coming of a 73-22 loss to Samford. Turnovers have been a consistent problem for VMI (-1.5) as they are among the worst five teams in Division I. The Citadel doesn’t have much of a passing offense but they should be able to run the ball at will against a very weak VMI defense.
The Citadel wins 41-28
