On Saturday, February, 27th at 6:30 P.M. the #7 North Carolina Tar Heels will be on the road to take on the #3 Virginia Cavaliers.  “The Crowd” projects a final score of North Carolina 74.0 – Virginia 71.6 with an over/under of 145.6.  The Tar Heels are (22-5) on the season whereas the Cavaliers are (21-6).  North Carolina has signature wins over two ranked teams: Maryland and UCLA.  They were defeated by ranked opponents in Duke and Louisville while also losing to unranked Northern Iowa, Texas, and Notre Dame.  Virginia has signature wins over four ranked teams: West Virginia, Louisville, Villanova, and Miami.  They were defeated by one ranked opponent in Miami while also losing to George Washington, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Florida State, and Duke.

Scoring Margin: North Carolina +13.6 (14th) Virginia +11.0 (32nd)

Points per game: North Carolina 83.9 (8th) Virginia 70.7 (tied for 233rd)

Points allowed per game: Virginia 59.7 (3rd) North Carolina 70.3 (tied for 139th)

Field Goal Percentage Offense: Virginia 49.4% (8th) North Carolina 48.4% (22nd)

Three Point Percentage: Virginia 40.2% (11th) North Carolina 31.5% (300th)

Free Throw Percentage: Virginia 75.2% (17th) North Carolina 73.5% (47th)

Field Goal Percentage Defense: North Carolina 41.5% (87th) Virginia 41.8% (143rd)

Turnovers committed per game: Virginia 9.4 (4th) North Carolina 10.9 (29th)

Turnovers forced per game: North Carolina 13.7 (108th) Virginia 12.1 (240th)

Rebounds per game: North Carolina 40.9 (19th) Virginia 31.9 (325th)

Assists per game: North Carolina 18.6 (7th) Virginia 14.7 (91st)

This is the classic matchup of a great UNC offense taking on a great Virginia defense.  These two teams are pretty evenly matched statistically.  North Carolina holds a distinct advantage in rebounding and do a better job of sharing the ball on offense.  Because Virginia takes care off the ball so well, I expect this to be a very close game.  In the end I like North Carolina to win a nail biter.
